Robert Andrew Parker has creativity that extends beyond painting and printmaking into sculpture, writing and music. Parker works quickly and switches mediums with the seasons — etching in the winter and sculpting in the summer. Robert Andrew Parker creates as a matter of daily life. A jazz drummer himself, Parker likes to have jazz playing in the background on tape or classic LPs as he paints in his studio. Robert Andrew Parker's themes and exotic landscapes come from the natural world — portraits, figures, animals — dogs, sheep, birds and monkeys, World War I warplanes, World War II warships, cityscapes and landscapes from his travels around the world — familiar objects that he transforms in a creative manner into the new and the unique, displacing the expected with the surprising, the ordinary with the extraordinary.
